“This permissionless architecture of Bitcoin can only promote a culture of free exchange, enhancing human agency. It is an environment where self-interested participants can interact with one another in a way that allows them to maximize their freedoms. This isn’t a world where government recognizes people’s freedoms and permits them to exercise rights. It’s an environment that enables human agency by respecting choice at the level of code. Whereas the enforcement of constitutional rights requires either trust in government or enforcement by courts that themselves are part of government, the enforcement of rights in Bitcoin is part of the architecture of the space which doesn’t require trust.”
